The council (LLC) fosters leadership, education and advocacy on behalf of the Latino community through cultural inclusivity, strategic partnerships and innovative approaches.
First UMC hosts meetings of LLC programs Mami y Yo, Las Comadres, and the Language Assistance Office.
PPoFT develops relationships across economic, racial and spiritual lines to improve the quality of life in Placer County, creating lasting positive solutions for our communities. Programs include advocacy and support for Homeshare American River, immigration counceling, Poor Peoples' Campaign, and low income housing.
The Health Education Council works to prevent chronic disease in under-served communities in Placer Countiy and across the Sacramento region, cultivating the health and well-being of those communities.
First UMC has hosted free, open to the public Covid and Flu vaccination clinics.
Prosper Placer serves families who live at or below the poverty level and are motivated to make lasting changes in their lives. The group works under the aegis of Child Advocates of Placer County to provide family counseling, mentoring and court-room advocacy for minors. Prosper Placer holds meetings at UMC and actively participates in our Fun at First Church events.
KidsFirst treats and prevents child abuse and neglect through education, advocacy, and counseling, empowering and strengthening children and families by providing the tools they need to cope with difficult life circumstances before they become overwhelming.
