Our Family

The Rev. Angel Rivero began his appointment as pastor at First Church Roseville on July 1, 2023. 

Raised in the Mojave Desert, he earned his undergraduate degree from Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley and then completed his seminary studies at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. His appointed ministry in The United Methodist Church began in July 2020 and, after serving the congregations in Marina and Salinas, he was ordained an elder in full connection on June 17, 2023 by Bishop Sally Dyck. 

Pastor Angel’s passion lies at the intersection of faith and action. For him, faith is what both sustains us and propels us into living as disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of our world. In his preaching, he strives for his messages to be relatable and relevant while pointing our attention to the “religion of Jesus,” as theologian Howard Thurman described. Ecumenical in spirit, Pastor Angel is a self-professed “Metho-Nerd,” meaning he finds inspiration and grounding in the Methodist tradition spearheaded by John and Charles Wesley. 

He is married to Martin and together they are cat dads to their two rescues, Simon and Garfunkel. In their free time, they enjoy exploring the outdoors (hiking, kayaking, birding), going to the movies, and playing Bananagrams.
